Dear Oaklander, Thank you for taking the time to report a pothole or other needed street repair to the City of Oakland Department of Transportation, or OakDOT. Our next step with your request will be to review it and assign it a priority level so that we can respond as promptly and appropriately as we can to the thousands of requests we receive each year. Your input into this process is critical, as we count on our community to be our eyes and ears as new issues arise or existing issues change. OAK311 is our one-stop shop for public maintenance requests, and it's the best method we have for logging, tracking, and prioritizing requests like yours. We’d like also to take this opportunity to share some information with you about how we’re taking on the bigger task of improving all Oakland streets – including fully repaving streets. In general, for our 3-Year Paving Plan (adopted in mid-2019) we prioritized local streets based on the Pavement Condition Index (https://oakgis.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=8802147bcb4b42bfb21846e36205fe4d), working generally from the worst streets next to schools, to the worst streets otherwise, until our budget target was met. With this plan, we will be repaving more than 70 miles of local streets in three years. This is a massive increase in funding dedicated to local streets: in the past ten years we averaged just under 3 miles of local streets paving per year. Unfortunately, even with this aggressive move to address local street conditions, we are not able to prioritize every one of the 300+ local street miles that are good candidates for repaving.   The condition of the street is a hazard, as it causes cars to swerve to the other side of the road to avoid the potholes. Pinewood road is one of the only entrances/exits for emergency vehicles into the neighborhood.

  I'd also like to further point out that because of the absence of sidewalks along this stretch of street people are often walking in the street, oftentimes with children and pets. Cars swerving to avoid this set of potholes puts these people and their children and pets in danger.

  These potholes have been here for years. It's in the fire area and don't think these streets up here have been paved since. They are a hazard as cars will go onto the other side of the street into oncoming traffic to avoid them. I fear walkers are also in danger of being hit by cars trying to avert those potholes. ALL of Pinewood and Caldwell/Glenarms and Neva Court need to be repaved! Patching these holds are not a permanent solution. We also don't have any sidewalks so it makes these pot holes even more dangerous for drivers and pedestrians.

  These potholes are a public safety hazard, and put at risk both drivers and pedestrians. The neighborhood lacks sidewalks, and pedestrians have no choice but to walk in the streets.

  Very hazardous potholes on a thruway for cars and pedestrians. Cars often have to swerve around the holes which is unsafe for pedestrians and other drivers. Please prioritize this area. Thank you.

  Pinewood is rapidly deteriorating. Numerous large, crumbling potholes and depressions from poor repairs exist the length of the street.
  With no sidewalks, pedestrians are on the shoulder and risk being hit as drivers swerve around potholes and speed bumps that are not wide enough.
  Please fix!

  The patching done on these potholes is shoddy and incomplete. The asphalt is already chipping and coming off. And only 2 of the 3 potholes were patched. Please come by and fix. Thank you.

  Also disappointed by the quality of work. I would like to know if this is being handled directly by the city or via a subcontractor. Only 2 of the 3 potholes were addressed, although all 3 were marked with paint.
