How is that permanent supportive housing over the hill on Sacramento Street coming along?

It looks to be complete and ready to provide spaces for the homeless in this community.

There have been so many complaints about this and neither the city of Vallejo or GRVC is doing anything, the community concern is ignored. The situation is ruining our waterfront, and corroding the wildlife, the jewel of our community, it’s both infuriating and sad.

This is what you get when you move Code Enforcement from the Police Department?
And, what’s the full-time Homeless Manager (Natalie P.) doing to coordinate with the GVRD Board. These people and the community deserve better.

This sad city wont do anything except pay out lawsuits and ignore tax paying citizens, no reason we should have to deal with these eyesores

Look at the Bay Trail off Sacramento & hywy 37 , ita complete environmental disaster, vehicles driving on the trail, wrecked vehicles in the water, huge piles of garbage. It will take a decade for the area to recover if it ever gets rectified.

This makes no sense whatsoever and there’s a bunch of people getting paid to make these people suffer.

The reported encampment is on City property, and recent federal court cases have restricted removal of homeless encampments on public property. In Martin v. City of Boise, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals issued a unanimous decision, finding that the City of Boise’s prohibition against sleeping in public violates the Eighth Amendment’s prohibition against cruel and unusual punishment when no alternative shelter is available. Thus, cities cannot enforce camping/lodging prohibitions if their local homeless population faces inadequate shelter space. However, the City will continue to monitor the location and assist with clean-ups when appropriate.

Citizens can reasonably expect that the camping restriction ordinance (030 VMC) is rationally related to legitimate local interests and should not preempted by state law. Residents of the city of Vallejo may reject any argument that the local ordinance has been preempted by California state or Federal law which reserves to the state the right to regulate the property rights of persons experiencing homelessness, the purpose of the ordinance is to regulate camping; it does not purport to regulate the rights of property ownership.

Vallejo residents pay property taxes that include a payment made each year to Greater Vallejo Recreation District for the maintenance of the properties under their jurisdiction. Tax payers are doing their part to preserve the River Park public space. GVRD should be required to participate in this forum. Fix this...
