This isn't an issue, really. Traffic does not back up on Whalley that regularly, and there isn't generally that much idling. As a rule, we should design our cities for people and not cars anyway. The amount of parking removed is far outweighed by the benefit of having additional community space and events, which draw many more people in to patronize local businesses (especially since we have a large lot at the corner of Whalley and Blake). We pay taxes for smart planning that makes our cities healthier and more enjoyable, and I would be devastated to give this one small stretch of road back to traffic.

You obviously aren’t seeing the actual problem here whatsoever. There are more automobiles on our roads than ever. There is an absolute bottleneck of cars idling at numerous times of day and to say that this is not an issue is false. Your feelings are not relevant to the issue. Yes we do pay taxes and a street section has been taken away that has been there for before you and I plus some. Please reopen this case, as I sit in traffic right now before even Harrison st heading to downtown Thank you

Btw I’m assuming that you’re also very unfamiliar with operating larger vehicles such as trucks that take roads more secondary than Central to navigate areas of deliveries and transportation for or through to recipients such as Yale Bowl area, etc. The lack of consideration for New Haven and Westville residents and business owners has declined so significantly these past few years especially. it’s really unfortunate how matters are not thoroughly addressed and properly investigated by the appropriate departments to determine what is truly best for all and not opinions of paid employees to close and comment without doing so
