I reported this issue several months ago on this site. Still no resolve or explanation from any authority as why the signs should remain posted. I hve seen a Waterford police car sitting off in the distance a few times when passing by. Is this a revenue generator for ticketing drivers who ignore the stop signs? Maybe this is a reason as why the signs remain.

Well, if Waterford police are indeed watching those two stop signs behind Pontiac Mall, how about if they go watch someplace where they'll be appreciated by someone, like along Watkins Lk Rd at Covert, and Orchid Rds.

These are private roads owned and maintained by the mall. Please direct your request to the mall.
Thank you.

They are 'private roads on private property', that's nice, BUT> the main question is, Will the Waterford cops write tickets for drivers who continue past these stop signs without stopping???

Not trying to be sarcastic, but why don't you call the Waterford Police Department and ask them, rather than posting to this page that does not go to any official public agency?

Because WPD has no jurisdiction over the placement or removal of stop signs. OCRC and MDOT do. When you post on SCF Those agencies are sent an email copy of this complaint.

Neither the Road Commission nor MDOT have any jurisdiction over anything on private roads, signs included.

The southbound sign got sheared off some months ago - I've been enjoying the unimpeded stroll at least in one direction. If I had my old Plymouth still I would take care of the other sign as well..

Does the Oakland County Road Commission do snow removal on this road? And if that is the case can you tell us how to contact "the mall"???
Road Commission (Invité)
No, the Road Commission does not do snow removal on those roads. Because we have no jurisdiction, and therefore no reason to interact with the property owners, we don't have any contact info, though we are trying to track that info down. If we can find it, we'll post it.

I've contacted a representative of the mall and an Oakland County Commissioner about the traffic light not working in addition to these stop signs that are no longer needed. Hopefully the two issues on Mall Drive will be taken care of.

No answer from either the mall representative nor the County Commissioner.

The stop signs are down - finally.
