I definitely agree. I can't picture this park but what do you mean by recycling installation?

As far as recycling -- as you know, and has been reflected on SeeClickFix, this is a neighborhood with a huge amount of street trash, including a lot of bottles/cans/etc. It is also a neighborhood with a community of unhoused (or under-housed) people, many of whom spend time rooting through trash bins for both food and bottles to recycle. (Moreover, there are housing units in the neighborhood in buildings that do not support recycling -- something to take up with landlords. I'm officially rambling but will try to tie this together.) Whatever happens in small public areas like this Sliver Park or along the Vision Trail will have some impact on this community (and not necessarily negative impact). What I'm imagining is a SAFE place for all communities. A recycling center could be as simple as a place where neighborhood people can bring bottles/cans/paper/etc. -- which could be picked up directly by the City or by people who appreciate the small amounts of money that can be redeemed by recycling. Also, simple building materials (plywood scraps), clothing, etc. etc. could be placed here in a simple give-a-thing, take-a-thing scenario. This may or may not be feasible because most important is that these places are self-governing, low-maintenance for city, yet also SAFE and CLEAN. Because I'm also a dog-person, I self-interestedly could also imagine a dog-run in this sliver park!

Another thing -- this Sliver Park could be the Trailhead for the Vision Trail!

This Saturday May 1st is May Day. Unplanned coincidence: on Saturday morning the Town Green SSD is organizing a clean-up of the Union Street area, especially under the Rt. 34 bridge toward Union Station. I will be there . . . but hoping to lead a group to this Green Sliver park for a bit of clean-up. C'mon out! Start time 8 AM, come anytime, May Day festivities on the Green start at 11.00 AM.

I totally agree. There are a ton of small leftover pieces of land around New Haven that should be made into parks. This is one of them. The more parks in the city the better, it increases quality of life and raises property values. It's better for everyone the amount of investment needed is relatively small considering the return.

we could take lane off of state street, and turn this into a pretty good bus depot along state street. have a great transfer station for commuters coming right off of the trains
