  The above eye sore property is negatively and unreasonably impacting our neighborhood. It is a miracle the House next door was not engulfed in the fire. With the State ablaze, one would think the City would expeditiously make the owner tear it down for safety. The fire inspection should be done by now along with other requirements, so let’s get it fixed. These messages are a record of the City responsibility, made by the citizens, in the event there are legalities. The owner deserves no respect, whatsoever and we could take legal action if necessary. Also, we will go to the media to make the community aware of this kind of negligence. At any time, the same kind of trouble makers that set it on fire could strike again. Please help before there is another California fire tragedy and keep us informed.

  I have seen this apparently abandoned property which was CLEARLY a fire hazard ever since I started riding the Canal trail. It was an eyesore then, and now it is a major hazard. The fence erected around the property is just silly, it won’t stop anyone, and of course will not stop the same people who set it on fire in the first place from trying again. It is time for it to be torn down. I feel so sorry for the many neighbors (with their nice homes) that could have been destroyed if the fire had spread. Do you really want to try again?

  Thank you for the inquiry. The City's Building Division is aware of the fire which occurred on this property. The property owner is moving forward with the required inspections from the Fire Department and from their own insurance company. Not all insurance companies move swiftly in this process. The present fencing secures the structure from reasonable access.

  What;s the status of this? Several days ago there was a bobcat digging up the sewer (?) line, but the house still stands. When will this be taken down? It's a safety issue for the neighbors.

  The owner obtained conditional approval for a demo permit earlier this month. There are many steps which the contractor and owner are required to follow. End disposition of the sewer & gas lines are all required to be settled before the permit is finaled.

  The house was bulldozed a month or two ago and is gone. Oddly the shed remains.
