Good idea, but it might actually increase speeds by making the drivers careening down York Street more comfortable with their illegal behavior.

Creating bump outs and a mid block crosswalk, like what the city did on Temple Street in front of the Omni Hotel, would almost certainly be a more effective way to slow traffic and reduce crashes.

I appreciate Mark's comment, but the speeding drivers are speeding anyway, and 1 less parking space that they don't even notice is not going to have any effect on their behavior.
