Government officials should really provide more information on what actions, if any, were taken to address an issue, not just mark it as "closed". That is not informative or consistent with the principle of government transparency.
Can someone with the City of Berkeley please address this point? Beyond being curious to hear how this particular problem was addressed (if it was), I am even more concerned with the broader question of how the public is informed about issues being addressed in general.

Wow, that doesn't look good! Wonder what chemicals can leak from telephone poles? Is it just rust, or something worse?
I also wonder what good the traffic cone, shred of caution tape, and length of rope tied to the phone cable are supposed to be accomplishing...
