Description
The city makes so many changes regarding parking and reducing lanes. Which in my opinion hurts Alameda. Park St. is ruined. How about making Oak St., Willow and Walnut one way streets from Encinal to Lincoln. That would be helpful.

I think one way streets are a very interesting and potentially positive plan to look at as well.
PLEASE keep Park Street only one lane in each direction! We need a nice slow street, not a raceway. 20 MPH zone would be great

Thank you for reporting your concerns about street safety in Alameda. On July 5, 2023, the City Council gave direction for staff to proceed with an updated striping plan for Park St and Webster St that aims to reduce parking confusion, efficiently utilize empty space and improve aesthetics on these two major commercial corridors. The new configuration will move parking back to the curb, maintain two travel lanes (one in each direction), fulfill City Council direction to place concrete barricades around parklets, and use the remaining extra space for striped bike lanes. Construction is expected in late 2023 or early 2024. This configuration gives more space for emergency vehicles, who can utilize bike lanes as needed.
