They do this in Fair Haven as well, but if it's street sweeping, it makes sense, as they are targeting one particular side of the street and have to drive alongside that gutter. The first vehicle is usually spraying water and the second vehicle (and possibly third) is the 'Pelican,' the actual street sweeper machine. If I recall correctly, only one side of the vehicle has the driver bubble, enabling them to look out over the gutter they're cleaning. Considering that 1) all cars on that side should have been moved and 2) they have to drive slow for the machinery to work, I don't see this as a true issue. You want your street cleaned properly, right?

the vehicles most certainly do NOT need to be travelling a certain direction to be effective. the mechanisms are the same on both sides.

the reason they should not be driving the wrong way down a one way road is the same reason why cyclists shouldnt ride the wrong way: a collision is both speeds combined instead of subtracted. cars travel so fast on our one way street it is likely one turning the corner will not expect a truck coming from the other way.

Driving the wrong way down a one-way is both illegal and unsafe. I'd much prefer that city vehicles follow the law and be safe than to have my street super clean.

Furthermore, they should be able to clean the street while driving with the traffic. I've seen it done here before.

if this ever happens on my one way street I intend to get out my personalized stop strips that will put an end to it
