Yes I had the same observations about this area a couple months back. This is what potential visitors and investors see when they drive through Vallejo and I suspect most of them keep driving. However, because the hobos, transients and druggies see little in terms of law enforcement or consequences they are thriving!

I believe our laws are so weak now it is against the law for the police to run them off like they could have done back 25 years ago

City leaders are useless...they should be supporting the Police Dept. in keeping this sh#t-hole clean but instead they allow the "camping". I agree with everything you guys are saying. Maybe we need to start bombarding the City Council meetings. We need to demand that something be done to clean up those areas. The blight that has struck this city is unbelievable! The fact that so many people are complaining and reporting these things and NOTHING is being done about it is even more unbelievable!! This would never happen in American Canyon, Benicia or Napa!! ONLY in Vallejo and it's a shame!

Miss pleasant, the city manager has received numerous emails from me with pictures and i was never given a response! They dont CARE!!!!!!!!!!!! It all probably stays this way due the idea that maybe most, if not all, of our city workers do not even live in Vjo. Perhaps not even the ones in City Hall. Otherwise, why can't things be taken care of immediately if not sooner so our city does not look this bad for the residents or those passing thru. City workers should be told to pick up any garbage they see while doing their other duties.They drive by piles every day and just keep driving. They have to have a work order to pick up the garbage. It's not a "Red" or Blue" problem, it's ALL of our problem. It affects everyone. Put your partisan differences aside and have some empathy for the desperate/disenfranchised and see them as people. Some need help and others need a firm hand. Offer services to those who need it and hold the rest accountable for their actions. If they want to live here, hold them to the same standards as every other law abiding resident.

Artsem, it starts at city hall, and we both know where that has taken us! No response, excuse after excuse with no end in sight. They have no answer for what has taken over this town! I see no fix in sight for this problem that has magnified into something so big their stymied by it! So we get pour rankings, schools are bad, businesses dont want to come here and so on and so on. SAD! I just cant believe the current city council and mayor dont see the blight that has overcome this city and refuse to do anything about it.

William, you have seen me comment before so you know that I agree with you but I ask everyone the same question: what do YOUR solutions look like? I think by brainstorming and offering suggestions is a positive way to enact change, but it DOES need to be addressed by City leaders.

Playing whack-a-mole will never fix the problem, and as a society, it's not illegal to be homeless. But there needs to be rules or else we are all just monkeys flinging our own waste from trees. Then, how do you enforce those rules?

In my opinion, city hall doesnt give a rats arse! As i have said in the past, i have sent at least three emails with numerous pictures of garbage everywhere and received no response! ARTSEM has gone down to city hall and told it was not a high priority, so where do we go from here?

If you had statistical crime data for specific areas comparatively for the last 2 years, you could try presenting it to the County Board of Supervisors. They may be helpful, but I think that the media would be more impactful.; Armed with photos (blurring out id's of course) of the areas at their worst, humerous panhandlers, garbage piles, etc.

The answer is helping those who need help getting off the street and prosecuting the vagrants, transients and druggies that have invaded our city.
Implement a zero tolerance policy for illegal camping, trespassing, littering, indecent exposure, etc.

I agree, getting media coverage would likely kick start some change in this city. Vallejo does have a lot of potential but it is squandered by lack of ambition from city leaders and the out of control vagrancy all over town. No one will want to do business in Vallejo until our city is cleaned up.

If we sue the City, the jury verdict of punitive damages awarded to the property owners will only make the change. This doesn't happen in, Danville, Alamo, Walnut Creek, San Ramon Lafayette, etc. Places of rich folks!! They have Judge's and Lobbyist as resident owners in their pocket.

I wonder if the city of Vallejo has an agreement with other cities like L.A. or Seattle to bus IN their homeless to this city. It is hard to fathom the number of homeless in this city and they are everywhere, leaving trash, creating a dirty unsanitary environment in their wake. But the excess in this city? Probably because of lack of enforcement, lack of police presence and the city councils inability to do anything. Vallejo is a city people want to get THROUGH not got to.

The ferry alone, makes Vallejo a megacity due to its location, the last stop to San Francisco. Don't be fooled into selling your property in Vallejo believe you me, it is the last stop which makes our property values going to Skyrocket soon. The City of Vallejo like any other city is just a huge Homeowners Association for the property owners.

Unless Property Owners get together hire a law firm and Sue the city for certain things, which will stop the blighted activity, is the only real active way for change, because in the interim there's usually a settlement which prompts negotiations to end further deterioration of the inner-city problems.

The "Media" is not interested in a blighted parking lot. Not much in the way of ratings there. Besides don't you think they would have picked up the story by now?

Identify what & where these 'mega' shopping centers that people flock to for the pleasure of spending their money? The ferry brings people in and out, mostly day computers, six flags, people go to and leave. Most of Vallejo is trashed, buildings shuttered and empty, homeless everywhere, trash overflowing. This is NOT anywhere near a MEGACITY. Property values are going up by default. Solano county is one of the cheapest counties in California, because of silicon valley & SF property values pricing out the average person they are coming up here. NOT for the beauty of this city, but because and only because it is cheap property compared to the $950,000 & million dollars they otherwise would have to pay. You cannot convince me that there is a shopping centers here that would attract anyone if they can go someplace else.

Click fix is rapidly turning into a forum sight! Everyone who is commenting needs to address your comments to the city manager and council. They have email sights, start flooding their emails with your displeasure! I have emailed the city manager 3 maybe 4 times with pictures, no response, so all ican say is hit city hall with a flood of calls and emails and maybe something might click in their peanut brains! I doubt though! I will keep reporting homeless camps, garbage, loitering, indecent exposure and so on until their sick of it!

I just went to the 99 cent only store yesterday. There were two motorhomes-old, beaten up, and beige-loitering in the parking lot. Also, three cars with people living in them with sheets in the windows to block the Sun. And they were rolling big bags of ice to the cars and the motorhomes.

So why and heck are we paying maintenance workers close to $90,000.00 a year with benefits to work at the city????????? "Maintenance" to maintain!!!!!!!!!!

IMHO and in defense of City workers, they handle approved maintenance requests and can't simply go out and fix/clean stuff...but, the DIRECTOR of maintenance might be someone worth talking to. Who does he get his approval from?

We tax payers, pay city workers $90,000 a year for a salary simply because they have a Social Security number. It's amazing how there's over 2.5 million undocumented immigrants living in California, and yet, they don't seem to live in tents/vehicles? But, these are Americans doing this, who feel entitled too-in liberal California.

And there lies the problem! The mindset at the COV is all backwards. The workers , all of them, moving out through the city on their daily duties should be instructed to pick any an all garbage that they come upon. Having to wait for a work order is a joke! By the time the click fix sight relays the info the damage has compounded beyond control! I reported a pile of human feces 2 months ago in front of my house and was told by the Head Superintendent of the maintenance division to clean it up myself after i asked for a street sweeper to come by and wash the street. I ended up opening the fire hydrant and cleaned it up myself! So talking to him is a waste of time!

The comments and reporting that we the people of vallejo send in not only should go this sight but DIRECTLY to city hall, all council members, city manager, mayor and all people running the city! I really think that if their emails where bombarded with our concerns, SOMETHING might get done! Our elected officials, who do nothing , need first hand knowledge of whats going on in this town! As i have said recently, this click fix sight reportings need to go also to ALL people running this city!

A lot of people living on the streets in this new era we're in, receive some type of government free assistance whether it's general assistance, welfare, EBT card, Obama Phone, SSI, Etc; something they would not been entitled to if they worked their entire adult life. On the 1st and the 15th of every month a "lot" get one of those free forms of payments. You can actually see the drug dealers in Oakland, West Oakland & near High Street Etc, with a long line collecting that taxpayers money that folks are receiving monthly to pay the "Dope Man" on the 1st and the 15th to get their fix or to repay him that credit. The good people in United States who need the actual free forms of monthly payment on the 1st and 15 can't actually qualify. But, if you have a drug habit or you claim to have a mental health issue or you claim to have some sort of thing that happened to you to, where you fit into a criteria, you can get the free monthly check. But when a taxpayer becomes down on his or her luck they can't qualify for anything because the system is not set up to actually help the taxpayers who paid for this entire country.

Since this is occurring on private property, there is due process involved and the City must first seek voluntary compliance of the violations from the property owner to fix the violation(s).
