Description
The Higuera Apartments building has eight units. The apartment is required to have off-street parking. The off-street lot in Hudson Alley between Georgia and York streets is closed off. As a result, all renters and guests park on Georgia Street, and the result is that many of us who live on the same street can't find parking in front of our own homes or anywhere else on the block. I have spoken to the manager, Michael Tatum, and he's unwilling to open the parking area, says the owner doesn't want it open. Tatum phone is 707-853 3901 or 645 8599. Owner is Douglas B. Taylor Trust, 303 Skyview Dr., Pleasant Hills CA 94523.

735 Georgia Street apartments have no off street parking for eight (8) units! Please help our beautiful street!!!
I am a disabled Vet, and it is ALWAYS a difficult experience when we (my wife and I) must do simple shopping, as you may imagine.
Thank you in advance!!! Michael and Dina

Okay, looks like this 8 plex referred to as Haquira Apartments, is in clear violation of required off street parking, being a "good for the neighborhood" property, AND blatantly violating the City of Vallejo code rules for such instances and occasional do baders!
We (My wife and I) live two (2) doors down from said apartments. There is NOT a day that goes by, when we can leisurely park anywhere near our home, ESPECIALLY, after say 4 - 5 in the afternoon on any work day. At that time, if one wish's to park in front of there home, there is only one choice. We MUST wait till the following day in the am usually to park our car. We usually move our vehicle from either at the end of the street or from across the street, depending on our "luck" the day earlier. Then at say 7am-9am, normally, one might get lucky enough to park within a car [or two] of there own home!
I dare any person, to attempt and park, say around 6-7 in the evening. Unless you are VERY lucky, you will be parking away from these apartments, since the very active tenants rule on any parking remotely close to where we wish to park. In most cases, this is within 3 (three) houses of same apartments.
Incidentally, we paid a handsome amount to fix our only other car that was unfortunately damaged attempting to enter our all-original [single car] garage on Hudson Alley. I wouldn't hesitate to park this second vehicle out front (much easier and more convenient for shopping, etc.) if it weren't for the REAL problem we face daily. Also, we continue to park said 2nd vehicle in the difficult garage, since we are very dedicated {arguably to a fault} to being the best neighbors we can be. Plus, it's ALWAYS nice to be nice!
Both my wife Dina and I are full on dedicated to overseeing, helping out, volunteering, or ANYTHING else, to see our AWESOME city become something else. We have a vision of grander, for the city with the best all around weather in the entire country! Yes, our opinion, but it's true.
The only thing I can state for the record, is ....
#1:The fact is that the owner does not live here and could not care ANY less about any of us as long as the apartments are profitable.
#2: The haquira apartments have so much available real estate off the rear alley, that most of us (neighbors on the block & tenants alike) KNOW that releasing said rear yard for parking would not only make EVERYONE {both homeowners AND tenants that rent there happier} with less stress, but actually save the landlord bonafide monies! (Since he or she would realize saved revenue from not paying a gardener or a groundskeeper to regularly keep the rear yard tidy, not to mention instant savings of using less water {for the existing grass}! And of course, the tenants mysteriously staying there at their 8 plex longer then previously! Because, as we all know, a happy tenant is a stable, firmly implanted in the dwelling type of person. And yes, they do go thru a few tenants as might be expected, considering every day they must [almost literally] fight for a parking spot!
We also know for a fact at least some of the people that live there actually have 3 (three) vehicles for a single person. That is there right, as Americans. What isn't right, is forcing all 8 (eight) units to daily "hunt" for parking, when a viable solution is a close as the back / rear yard.
On a final thought for those few people making decisions for the rest of us... There is a new home being built across the street. Very nice person, a true asset for the block AND community!
Do you think this person might enjoy a car or heck, maybe even more then one car? Of course!
Will this (even if the new house across the street has a three (3) car garage) become even worse as time rolls on? Yes, most definitely, of course. Why or even HOW could it not? That answer may lie with the Haquira APARTMENTS FINALLY, AND PERMANENTLY, OPEN THE REAR YARD TO (ASSIGNED?) PARKING.FOR THE TENANTS THAT LIVE THERE, ALONG WITH THE REST OF US CITIZENS THAT HABITAT THE REST OF THE BLOCK!
AND IN CONCLUSION, I DARE ANYONE TO ATTEMPT TO PARK A VEHICLE BETWEEN 5 PM AND SAY 7 AM THE FOLLOWING DAY ON OUR STREET. OTHER THEN THE REAR YARD RELEASE IDEA, MOST OF US HAVE LOST ALL HOPE OF PARKING IN FRONT OF OUR OWN HOMES!
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR TIME ON THIS VERY SENSITIVE ISSUE!!! Michael and Dina Natov 721 Georgia Street

I WILL keep this short. The Haquira Apts rear yard can park 12 cars as a minimum. The retaining wall, grass, and such must go.
That is it, besides pouring a concrete base, striping the new 12 parking spaces (6 on each side), and removing the chain link fence. We could even build the owner a home for his debris box next to alley.
