The bike lanes on Orange St have yet to be replaced. They were removed during street repaving last summer. Please repaint these ASAP as this Orange St has some of the most bicycle traffic in the city. We shouldn't be turning back the clock with bike infrastructure.

Right now the bike lane is only painted from Humphrey St. to Edwards St (two blocks). Before, it went from Humphrey to Cold Spring St (9 blocks). Thank you so much!

RDM.
I’m shearing. Part of a email. I received Friday.
“ Hi Alder Herrera,
As we discussed earlier, during milling and paving season, the Department evaluates the feasibility of installing new Bike lanes before installing pavement markings. Based on our review, in your Ward, we’ve selected Edwards Avenue between State Street and Orange Street for installation of a bike lane in one direction. Additionally, we believe that reallocating travel lanes for non-motorized users will not improve mobility but also increase overall safety by slowing traffic and creating dedicated paths for bicyclists.“
Please share your thoughts. I will address them wit. Sandeep, just the director of this depart.

Hi Alder Herrera,
That is great news! I’m glad there will be another bike lane.
I do think restoring the Orange St bike lane is more important (much more bike traffic on that route), but the Edwards St lane would be an excellent addition since it will connect to Orange St. Thanks so much!

Please be advised that there is no Federal law that requires the installation of bike lanes prior to, coincident with or subsequent to the alterations that were made that are under discussion.
There are, however, Federal Anti-Discrimination laws and regulations that require the remediation of existing violations of Federal law that present substantial limitations or deny access to programs or facilities along or at the ends of those access routes.
Federal law also prohibits the disclosure of the contents of communications with the Dept. of Justice, however I can say that it would be imprudent at this time to continue to ignore those Federal regulations and to continue to dichromate against a protected class for the benefit of a privileged, non-protected class..
