The City of Oakland Public Works Department has received this issue. It is registered as service request #581995. Please check back for status updates, or contact us directly at 510-615-5566.
There needs to be measures in place to secure these properties as soon as they have cooled down. Dumpsters, Hazmat crews, crews to board them. This a complete fail by the city to leave this kind of mess. If it were raining think of all the toxic material that would be washed into the storm drains. They should have a way to contact the property owners and the insurance company with in hours not days or much longer.

I don't think that there is an actual address for this house. The family who once lived in it told me years ago that their great grandfather bought two houses next door to one another and had them stacked together to make one large house. I think that knowing this information should give some insight about how dangerous this structure is to have in the community. It has officially been over a year since the fire and the city has done nothing to ensure the safety of the people living near this catastrophe. I'm very disappointed, having to see this everyday is traumatizing. On top of it being abandoned, burned and unsightly, squatters have moved in.
