Description
Why has this 3 lane avenue turned into a permitted parking area? This takes away valuable parking space needed to get to transit in the morning. There is very little housing in this area most of which has sufficient parking. This has less to do with parking and more to do with residents not wanting cars in front of their homes. This is not a side street, it's an avenue and major arterial. How was this change justified?

It has been a struggle trying to let(even now)people know that they are blocking drives and that there is plenty of parking
across the street, we have left notes on cars and ticket vehicles, to little or no success.
We as a block decided to pursue permit c parking, it is an application and has to get a certain% of the block to agree, there are hearings, once approved takes time to put signs up. This application took over three years from beginning to end. Yes you are correct in your statement about being able to park on the street in front of our own house instead of parking in front of someone else's house. It only creates a problem for that person on Oceanview/Lawton.
I am sorry for your inconvenience but looks like bart needs to address this problem and not leave it up to the residence to do so. They are adding parking spaces(Walnut Creek)to their other structures maybe they can do it for their commuters now. Hope this helps to bring everyone to an understanding as to why this area has residential permit parking.

As for the curb issue you have, we as a community tried to get that changed last year and was able to get the city to put up bollards to keep our kids somewhat safe as cars are SPEEDING to get ahead of two or three cars just to get on a freeway that is gridlocked. Makes plenty of sense to me!
The city would not change design of the project because they approved the plans and contractor has been paid. If you are asking me I think the bike lane is too big for that area.
When this project was scheduled it was called a road diet which I wasn't in favor of but after getting almost clipped by cars speeding down Broadway from Keith. I approve of the diet and the parking. If you lived on Broadway or Lawton I would hope you would understand why it was done. But if you are trying not to pay for a permit and Broadway was you Golden ticket from doing so I would suggest you get up and move your vehicle north of Oceanview or south of Lawton by 7:30 it's plenty of parking at that time. Better idea would be to move your car 1k feet every four hours to prevent you from getting a ticket. Cheers!
