This issue has not been fixed. Neighbors met with Dave Neumann City, council district 3, James Childers from code complience and SW sub-station chief(forgot his name). We met for a about an hour and walked the entire block of Perryton so they could see OUR problems for themselves. We are hoping to see some improvements soon.

Still working on the issue-will provide an update at a later date.

Those of us who live along Kiest Park on Perryton Drive are the ones who are having to deal with the trash in our front yards from these vendors. Vehicles will literally stop in front of your vehicle in the middle of the street to buy from these cart vendors, blocking traffic on both sides of the street and totally refusing to move. We have too much cruising, vehicular radio noise (in violation of the City of Dallas' noise ordinance) that rattles the windows of our homes, trash in our yards (even tossed used condoms) and many code violations. If you had to live on a street with these many issues, you would want to work with your neighbors, & city departments, as well to clean up your street and have a safer & peaceful environment for your family and your neighbors.

As a follow up to previous comment:
City of Dallas Code Compliance "visited" a house in the 2100 block of Perryton a couple of weeks ago that has been known to illegally been supplying stock for the cart vendors. I was told by James Childers, Interim Director of Code Compliance, that code officers visited (raided) this particular home advising the people that answered the door why they were there. The owner wasn't home, but the occupant/family member let the officers in and took them directly to the bedroom where all the stock supplies were stored for the cart vendors. The Code Officers told them that it was illegal for them to supply the vendors out of this home and the person said the would get rid of the supplies. We have been advised by Mr. Childers that the Code Compliance Dept. will continue to closely monitor Perryton Drive along Kiest Park for the vendors and the code officers are set up to canvas the street quite frequently. We, the residents of Perryton Drive, are thankful for the assistance of Mr. Childers and his staff for working to resolve this issue. It is just a start to "cleaning up" our street. We will be diligent in accomplishing peaceful resolutions to our issues. Respect the residents of the neighborhood -- turn down the booming radioes, don't litter, if you use Kiest Park use the Park's parking lots(don't block our driveways) and don't cruise (only brings bad things to a neighborhood -- drugs & prostitution).

Thanks Mark. I read the Terms of Use for the site and guess my previous post fell under "otherwise objectionable" in section 6.1. I certainly hope that otherwise objectionable is not used here as merely a way to squelch differing opinions.

Speaking of differing opinions, I really don't get the arguments presented by either Kris or jb. The original post begins with "popsicle sales have increased on Perryton Dr. in front of Kiest Park". This doesn't sound criminal at all.

Kris continues, "interrupting the flow of traffic". Really? I can't imagine purchasing a home that faces a public park (and I have done this) without having slow traffic. Sounds more like a poor choice of neighborhood (location, location, location). The park is public, it is not owned by the residents on Perryton Dr.

Then Kris mentions "litter by customers". Again I must ask, "Really?" The ice cream vendor is responsible for the litter of others? How far do we take this? Do we shut down Tom Thumb? I'm sure some of their customers have littered.

JB says that traffic doesn't flow, then says there is too much cruising. Which is it? Then JB goes on to say, "too much... vehicular radio noise." Are the ice cream vendors turning up the volume in passing cars? And, my personal favorite from JB, "trash in our yards (even tossed used condoms)." If the ice cream man tossed a used condom into my yard, I'd be upset too. And last, but certainly not least amusing, "We will be diligent in accomplishing peaceful resolutions to our issues." What other kind of resolutions would you look for? Taking up arms against the popsicle guys?

These ice cream men add a lot of flavor (pun intended) to our community. I can't help but wonder what the real issue is.

I don't expect this post to live very long. You made it clear earlier that you do not appreciate opinions that differ from yours. I hope you get to the root cause of the issues on Perryton Dr. and I really doubt it has anything to do with ice cream.

Please don't take offense to my flagging your earlier post - it's all with the intention of encouraging constructive debate here.

We can all agree to disagree - I am not a site admin but am pretty sure that comments won't be removed unless they are in violation of the TOS.

So please feel free to debate the merits of any proposed fix and encourage your neighbors and local elected officials to join in!
