Have been woken up before 7am on several weekends and had about enough this Sun AM, when noise started at 6:30am. Drove around the corner and found this guy on Canal St behind 25 Science Park. He told me he was mowing the grass, that it wasn't that early and that he'd be doing it for another week. I reminded him that there is a noise ordinance in New Haven. Please enforce! As this area gets more and more development, we are concerned that increased noise will become even more of an issue. Not sure if this is a company hired by Yale or the city, but I will reach out to them.

The City of New Haven Code of Ordinances, Chapter 18, Article II. Noise Control, Section 18-78 does exempt "Noise from domestic power equipment such as, but not limited to, power saws, sanders, grinders, lawn and garden tools or similar devices operated between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. on Mondays through Saturdays, and 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. on Sundays, provided that noise discharged from exhaust is reasonably muffled"
In a case like this the New Haven Police Department would be responsble for the enforcement of this type of activity.
Hope this helps!
