I appreciate the acknowledgement. I have a feeling that repainting the white line or putting a soft post between the two lanes at an appropriate place may eliminate any future fender-benders at that turn, My concern is the Van versus STM bus. Intelligent Van drivers wait for the bus to complete the turn before zooming into it. I can't say what the not so bright Van drivers will do.

Our Urban Development team has looked at the issue but it is not something our department can fix because this configuration was designed by a consultant who calculated the radius of curvature requested for that location. No such accidents were reported during the last seven years. Therefore there is nothing to be done.

Only one comment. Is the lane separator line in the place where the consultant specified. Over the years, repainting same may have shifted its orbit. If you have a chance, walk over and confirm. I am leaving this closed.

It's a shame this is being closed just because there have been no accidents. This issue was raised as preventive, because accidents appear to be a matter of "when" and not "if". Does the cost of moving the line over by a foot or so really outweigh the costs incurred by an accident? There's plenty of room on the outside lane to accommodate the loss of this space.

In response to your comment, that is what I too saw. The turning circumference. if just increased slightly could stop a potential accident. One foot would make a difference. From the response, my impression is, "I am not getting out of my office to walk over to check it out, Centrifical force has a role in this scene. If the inside lane driver is accelerating rapidly, while the outside lane driver is slowly accelerating, the inside car is directed towards the vehicle on his right. The original design made 8 years ago is correct." Also, eight years ago Vans were smaller. And anyway, what is the chance of that a "mirror smasher" kind of accident being reported. Reminder, sidewalk adjustments were recently made for the northbound (Fleet=>Cavendish) turn.
