Changing the road pattern to something that looks like the 1600 block of 11th street would be ideal. Angled back in parking with dedicated left turn lanes and one travel lane in each direction with timed traffic signals could move the same volume of traffic much more safely, without the dangerous "rally car" type behavior that is constant on 6th st now. This section of Shaw is a residential neighborhood and the road should reflect this.
This issue somehow did not get assigned a tracking number from DC311. If you want them to do something you're going to have to report it again and they'll put a tracking number in the comments so we can track progress.
Thanks for your feedback Patti. However the road layout is a DDot issue and not something 311 can handle. Until 6th st gets a road diet this issue will remain open.

This is a major public health hazard.
Please do something to reduce the incidence of speeding here (the Federal Highway Administration has many guides on the subject).
