Enough with these cryptic posts! It's a picture of some flags, somewhere... maybe Vallejo? They're not at half-mast, true, but why should they be , when was this, what event had occurred, requiring them to be lowered?
This isn't a telegram, they don't charge by the word. Tell us something.
DAWN: Thanks for the tip. The map also helped. Now, can someone answer my questions: It's a picture of some flags, somewhere... maybe Vallejo? They're not at half-mast, true, but why should they be, when was this, what event had occurred, requiring them to be lowered?
Thanks for reporting! The City flies flags at half mast when directed by the President of the United States. You can get alerts for these orders here http://halfstaff.org/.
ALUN: the flags photographed are at the cited address at the city offices / public library or the US post office across the street. I'm recalling from memory, without looking up the precise address. The buildings are all within a 1/2 block of each other.
Yes, probably due to the police shoots referenced by Johan, but there has also been a military base. shooting, and last night's Club Blu shooting of teens in FL (again). And, sadly, who knows what else in past 24 hours. I'm expecting flags to remain at half-mast indefinitely for some while to come.
If you want to lower Vallejo to unilaterally lower our flags every time someone is pointlessly gunned down in this country, then maybe we should simply chop the top half off our flag poles!
Dawn/Johan, if you really want Vallejo to lower it's flags every time someone is pointlessly gunned down in this country, then maybe we can save the repeated effort by chopping off the top half of our flag poles.Either that, or pass sensible laws to stop irresponsible people from getting their hands on guns. Or maybe give police officers the training and equipment they need so that tragic mis-identification and/or racial profiling don't lead to innocent civilians being shot
I get your sentiment.
Sometimes I'm out of touch with news for a few days, so, we can use lowered flags as the only visible constant reminder to the public that yet another, continuing, tragedy has occurred, until enough of the populace are touched by it and moved to take actions to remedy the terrifying trend.
