I'm not sure this is the right forum for this issue as it's not something that needs to be "fixed," but the current plan running the Greenway along "low traffic" Olive Street certainly seems foolish when an realistic alternative is located a few feet nearby.
I was thinking more in terms of the Wooster Square Association, which would be heavily impacted by additional bike traffic on Olive Street, or the local chapter of the Rails to Trails Conservancy.
Given this statement from the article above, this alternative plan would be something that needs immediate support and action.
Gilvarg said the greenway plans are running almost exactly one year behind schedule. The project is now at the “semi-final design” phase, or 60 percent designed. The route that’s been chosen is the result of a number of public meetings, and represents the best that can be done with the time and money available, Gilvarg said.
This is a complicated issue and I would urge folks not to jump to any conclusions about alternative plans for Phase IV. Hopefully we can get the current Phase IV design (which is very close to receiving all its DOT approvals) built while continuing to pursue a "lowline" option along the rail corridor. It's a mistake at this point to see it as either/or.
We are trying to delineate issues that are current and need the city's attention to resolve. Any issues prior to 2013 are being closed. If your issue remains and needs to be addressed by the city, please either re-open or open as a new See Click Fix issue. Thanks.
